Original Song: The Woman Who Froze In Fargo
Month 78 of the original song a month project. The Woman Who Froze In Fargo is another magazine article based song – a young Japanese girl who thought the movie Fargo was a true story and ended up dying there in pursuit of her dream. This one was recorded in a hotel room in Adelaide so pretty basic collection of midi sounds rather than live instruments, but I do think it has the right kind of feel. Hope you enjoy!

The woman who froze in Fargo was lured to the brutal cold
By the blurred line between fact and fiction in the story that was told
The myth became reality and flattened it at as well
She’d fallen for the trap, the Coen brothers spell
(Chorus)
The woman who froze in Fargo
Was fooled by one line only
The woman who froze in Fargo
Was fooled by one line only
The woman who froze in Fargo
Was fooled by one line only
One line that could lead to glory
This is a true story
Checked in to the holiday inn in Bismarck, North Dakota
Got lift with a local man driving his Toyota
A crude drawn map of a tree and road that marked her destination
Searching for her own truth, a repeated affirmation
They’d tried to get inside her head but there was no translater
A local hunter found her body lying there a few days later
Some say it was in the woods, some say it was in a field
Wearing thigh-high boots and a miniskirt, her fate was sealed
(Chorus)
The woman who froze in Fargo
Was fooled by one line only
The woman who froze in Fargo
Was fooled by one line only
The woman who froze in Fargo
Was fooled by one line only
One line that could lead to glory
This is a true story
Her journey was a pilgrimage that took her ever nearer
But knowing motivation doesn’t make it any clearer
It could have been a broken heart or the ransom buried in the snow
Now she’s gone there is no way that we will ever know
(Chorus)
The woman who froze in Fargo
Was fooled by one line only
The woman who froze in Fargo
Was fooled by one line only
The woman who froze in Fargo
Was fooled by one line only
One line that could lead to glory
This is a true story
About the original songs
In January 2012 I commenced a goal of trying to write and record at least one song from scratch each month – sometimes it comes easily, sometimes it’s a real challenge, but I love the discipline it creates. I managed to complete the year, but it was so much fun that I’ve decided to keep it rolling for as long as I can.
