Original Song: The Light

Month 92 of the song-a-month project, and yes, another month another song. And yes, another month scraping in by the skin of my teeth. It’s all my fault though as The Light was pretty much complete bar a couple of additions about two weeks ago. Just another lesson around making sure you get on with things when you have time!

THE LIGHT
©2019 Chuck Smeeton

Now I’m lying in my bed,
Thoughts are running through my head
Hold me tight, don’t let me go
A simple touch to let me know

(Chorus)
I’m just looking for the light
Something that I can ignite
I’m just looking for the light
A sign that it’s all right

I guess I was looking for a connection
But what I found exceeded expectation
Can’t explain what I am feeling
But I know you have left me reeling

Always trying to make love more perfect
A treasure that you must protect
Because I’m sure that’s how it can be
As the architect of what love is to me

(Chorus)
I’m just looking for the light
Something that I can ignite
I’m just looking for the light
A sign that it’s all right

(Bridge)
You can’t always find what you seek
If you don’t know what you’re looking for
But you will know when it appears
And fate comes knocking at your door

(Key change Chorus)
I’m just looking for the light
Something that I can ignite
I’m just looking for the light
A sign that it’s all right

About the original songs
In January 2012 I commenced a goal of trying to write and record at least one song from scratch each month – sometimes it comes easily, sometimes it’s a real challenge, but I love the discipline it creates. I managed to complete the year, but it was so much fun that I’ve decided to keep it rolling for as long as I can.
