RockArt: Tractor Rhythm

tractor rhythmWell here’s a weird one: tractor rhythm! In hunting around for various blues clips on YouTube I came across some videos featuring some nice playing but using old tractors as the rhythm source. Yep, these guys simply drive an old tractor onto their “stage” and just leave it chugging away at an idle. Sounds weird, and indeed it is – especially as some of clips are coming out of destinations like Russia and Sweden! Check ‘em out – tractor rhythm is strangely compelling!!

I particularly like the website of a very talented bloke called Bottleneck John where he has collected some great stuff around the subject of blues and vintage machinery! Props to you, Bottleneck John!!

I now have a strange desire to hunt down other weird things that can provide a non-human rhythm source – especially something that provides such a warm kind of feel (rather than say a metronome that may be non-human but sounds so clinical).

RockArt is a series of posts that looks at the sometimes (but not always) non-musical side of things: videos, photos, logos and artwork – or in this rare case, musical artistry! You can find more here.
