Original Song: I’d Rather Stay In Bed

It’s month 43 and the 50^th song I’ve cranked out over that period of time. It wasn’t too hard to come up with a theme for this month given how bloody freezing it’s been in Sydney – I’d rather stay in bed really says it all I guess. I’ve been playing around with some different kinds of bass riffs recently and decided to pretty much build the song around them, and I like the way it keeps the whole track somewhat “flat”. I also like mucking around with different song structures to mix things up a bit, and deciding to avoid the need for a chorus with a big hook again works, I think, quite well. So there you go – have a listen and I hope you enjoy. Me? I’m going back to bed.

About the original songs
In January 2012 I commenced a goal of trying to write and record at least one song from scratch each month – sometimes it comes easily, sometimes it’s a real challenge, but I love the discipline it creates. I managed to complete the year, but it was so much fun that I’ve decided to keep it rolling for as long as I can.
