Original Song: Moving

MOVING
© 2012 Chuck Smeeton

From the balcony we stood and watched
The waves that crashed upon the shore
Finishing their journey
Their energy no more

I shed a tear of disbelief
That this moment couldn’t last
What’s been the present for so long
Would now live in my past

[chorus] Moving, simply moving
Leaving everything behind
But it’s time to go, that I know
The contract has been signed

Packed away in every box
Memories that owned a place
Labels that don’t mean a thing
Destined for a new home base

I’ve packed before so many times
But it never feels that way
It’s always wrapped in pain
No matter what they say

[chorus]

And now I sit surrounded
By a life firmly contained
I wonder where I do belong
Unexplained and drained

[chorus]
