Shuffle Aces: My Chemical Romance – All I Want For Christmas

The band I’m in – The Hellbenders – plays punk/rock covers of mainstream songs, and part of that process is looking around for new ideas. We are in the midst of planning a Christmas in July gig, so hunting down Christmas track ideas is on the go. This track from My Chemical Romance is a brilliant take on the Mariah Carey All I Want For Christmas track. Like all good covers in this genre, it starts out lulling you into the belief that it may well be a faithful remake, but just when you are getting comfortable it goes ball to the wall. I’ve always loved this version – and there’s a good chance it will find its way into our setlist.
