Shuffle Aces: Wax Tailor – Que Sera
transgender dating sitesI have been listening to a lot of trip-hop recently and this track is a cracker. Que Sera from Wax Tailor is a wonderful blend of everything you could possibly want from the genre: a perfect beat with great samples that create something greater than the sum of its parts. Any trip-hop playlist has to include this one!
Wax Tailor is the trip-hop moniker of Jean-Christophe Le Saoût, a French producer who first emerged in the local electronica scene in 2004. His debut album – which features Que Sera – was Tales Of The Forgotten Melodies and was a hit in both the US and France. His ability to create a really cinematic feel to his music has become his trademark. He sits happily alongside other artists that have mined this territory to great effect such as Massive Attack, RJD2 and DJ Shadow. The video here is also pretty cool in that it’s not the official release but rather something that a YouTuber created using clips from “The Man Who Knew Too Much” (A. Hitchcock, 1956), “Ben Hur” (W. Wyler, 1959), “To Be or Not to Be” (E. Lubitsch, 1942), “Close Encounters of a Third Kind” (S. Spielberg, 1977), and “Shadow of a Doubt” (A. Hitchcock, 1943). Clever stuff.
