Shuffle Aces: PUP – If This Tour Doesn’t Kill You, I Will
Here’s a track that I caught on the NPR All Songs Considered podcast last week. It’s a great punk track that is special for the number of changes it features in its brief onslaught. PUP is a Canadian band from Toronto, Ontario that kicked off in 2013. Their self-titled debut album was released in 2013 and their second album The Dream Is Over will be released later this month. They’ve received quite a bit of acclaim: Rolling Stone called them one of 2014’s “breakout rock acts” and they have been nominated for three Juno Awards. If This Tour Doesn’t Kill You, I Will is not only a brilliant name for a track, but features some great hooks. I do have to say that the video freaks me out a bit so I prefer to listen to this one rather than watch the video – so don’t say I didn’t warm you!
You can find all the Shuffle Ace tracks – including this one – on a Spotify playlist here.
Shuffle Aces is a series of posts that highlights a song of the week that “shuffling” has brought forth. With all the streaming services it’s not just an iPod on shuffle mode that we use to discover new stuff, but the principle remains the same: hit play and wait to see what gems come forth.
