15 Biggest Musicians

biggest musiciansAfter doing lists around tall musicians and short musicians, trying to pull together a list around the biggest musicians was always on the cards. That said, it’s not as though these large folks actually list their weight anywhere – hell, there’s a fine line between “big” and “fat”. Still, while I can’t exactly list them in order of who moves the needle on the scales the most, this selection is some of the largest in rock. As always, if you’ve got any suggestions please let me know!

1. Elvis Presley
There’s obviously early sex symbol Elvis… and then there’s fried peanut butter sandwiches Elvis.

2. Bob “Big Bear” Hite (Canned Heat)
Big Bear? Say no more.

3. Meatloaf
With a name like Meatloaf you’re not exactly hiding from the fact you’re a big dude.

4. Chris Burney (Bowling For Soup)
Burney is a big lad that makes a guitar look very small! (This is a great video!)

5. Warren Haynes (Allman Brothers Band/Gov’t Mule)
Big bloke with even bigger talent.

6. Fieldy (Korn)
A nickname is derived from Garfield the comic strip cat gets you a slot in this list.

7. Gary Floyd (The Dicks)
With a penchant for dressing in drag, this gay punk icon is an interesting character!

8. Barry White
Those deep smooth tones from the walrus of love probably had a little to do with his size.

9. Tom “Pig Champion” Roberts (Poison Idea)
Yep, a big… very big… bloke. The white outfit on this clip is awesome. (Also vocalist Jerry A ain’t exactly small!)

10. Aretha Franklin
A big woman with amazing talent!

11. David Thomas (Pere Ubu)
Thomas’s ability to hit high notes sounds a little strange coming from such a large frame.

12. Cass Elliot (Mamas and the Papas)
Phenomenal voice, great band.

13. The Notorious B.I.G. (Biggie Smalls)
The name says it all.

14. Frank Black/Black Francis
The bald head helps give the “round” impression more legs.

15. D. Boon (The Minutemen)
This member of the legendary Minuteman even stands at a barbecue in this video!

  1. What the heck? What about The Beatles? They must be number 1 or 2. And most of these musicians like meatloaf, who remembers them? I mean really.
