12 Rocking TV Themes

Phineas and FerbA few years ago The Hellbenders toyed with the idea of creating a setlist of TV themes to play – inspired in a big way by the fact my kids were huge fans of Phineas and Ferb and Jimmy Neutron. As you do, I got into the shows as well, but most of all I just loved the themes that were played by Bowling For Soup – a band I’d always loved. The following is the selection of songs we came up with at the time, although sadly never worked up. I still think BFS kill this list but there are some other nice ones in here. Please don’t hesitate to add any suggestions you may have in the comments below.

1. Bowling For Soup,  “Phineas and Ferb theme” (Today Is Going To Be A Great Day)

2. Bowling For Soup, “Jimmy Neutron theme”

3. The Jam, “Batman theme” (their tribute to the Who who’d also had it on their first album)

4. Ramones, “Spiderman theme”

5. Sublime, “Hong Kong Phooey theme”

6. Butthole Surfers, “Underdog theme”

7. Dig, “Fat Albert theme”

8. Face to Face, “I’m Popeye (The Sailor Man)”

9. Manic Street Preachers, “Suicide is Painless (Theme from M*A*S*H)“

10. Hüsker Dü, “Love Is All Around“ (Mary Tyler Moore Show theme)

11. The B-52’s, “(Meet) the Flintstones“

12. The Rembrandts, “I’ll Be There For You” (Friends theme)
